Preventive maintenance (PM) is performed regularly. Spare parts used in PMs may be ordered on-demand to lower the cost of inventory stock. The first step is to set up a site inventory to manage a spare part.
- Set up min/max stock levels for a spare part. A minimum stock level may be configured to address breakdowns.
- Set up auto ordering when stock is below the minimum stock level.
- In the screenshot below, a minimum stock level of 2 is used.
Next, define spare parts in PM Plans. When a PM is generated into a work order, and its status is changed to approved or released, the spare parts in its PM Plan are placed for reservation. The reservation may lead to ordering of the parts for the PM. One may control when to release a PM based on its due date.
- A PM is released 7 days ahead of its due date by default.
- You may set "Days ahead" to have a PM released earlier than 7 days.
Reserved parts can be reviewed in inventory module. Reservation is counted in part ordering calculation, and may lead to the creation of requisitions to order spare parts.
