Explanation of Custom ABC Processes

Standard ABC processes are provided in Calem. They can be used to manage inventory. See this blog for more information. 

  • If the standard processes work for your business requirements, you are all set. 
  • A custom ABC process can be a solution if your organization has own criteria in ABC classification.
  • Contact Calem for adding a custom ABC process. 
  • The diagram below shows the process in evaluating the need for a custom ABC process.

 1. Provision a Custom ABC Process

The delivery and configuration of custom ABC processes are performed by Calem. 

  • You may choose custom method and select your custom ABC method when creating a new ABC process (screenshot below).
  • The steps to calculate and apply ABC classification is the same as standard ABC processes.
  • Additional fields are available to show information about custom processes:
    • Score: a score used for custom ABC classification.
    • Custom fields (1 to 5):  interim results for ABC classification.
    • The screenshot below shows a worksheet with additional information for an inventory item. 
    • The field labels of custom fields be changed to clarify the information displayed.
    • The help texts of the custom fields may be added for more information.
